Synopsis: A girl comes home for mother's funeral. Brother confesses he ate raw meat. He also wants to prove that father was not dead, but still alive.
Comment: Corben's artwork is unclear because of messy colors. His own story is just so so.
Alternatives: Story is reprinted in both Comix International #3 and #4 only in part of the prints! For example, my copy (of #4) does not contain the story, only two frames as part of the front cover montage!
Alternatives, Vers2: The story was censored in German version. They did not show the last, cannibal frame.
Extra: The Vampire Archieve version was resored partly from the original overlay films (pages 1 and 2) of Fredric George.
Sale notes: Now that Mr. Corben was selling his original art plates some words for existing versions. Vampirella Archieves Vol. 5 (2012) version is equal with the one in Vampirella #31 (1974), except Warren's original is a bit clearer than Dynamite's collection scans. Then again the versions Mr. Corben was selling on his web site in Dec. 2014 had clearly different coloring! The originals were mainly reddish, but Corben's revisited versions had more variation for colors and the overall color were greenish. Also on pg 5 a word, "DAMNED" was erased. Some bubbles were empited from the original art plates; no clear pattern why. Dec. 2014 sale Mr. Corben was selling in B&W pgs 1, 3, 6, 7, and painted color art plates of pgs 2, 4, and 5.
Painted Original Art Plate: Actually pages 2, 4, and 5 were painted original art plates! Only pages 1, 3, 6, and 7 were colored by Corben's overlay technique! The difference between painted original art plates and printed Warren pages was that at that time they did not make a proper color separation out of the painted originals! Same thing with Bowser. Thanks for pointing me out, José Villarrubia!
Corben: The Woodlik Inheritance. I did this story for Warren when I was still trying to devise a good and reliable color system for my comics. There is a mix of techniques, from full color to some overlay system that I can't remember at the moment. The story is obviously a Lovecraft pastiche, one of my better ones, I think.
