"To Spear a Fair Maiden"
8 pgs. Appeared first time in
Fantagor #2 (1971). Reprinted
in
Richard Corben Complete Works #2 (1986) and
in
Children of Fire #1 (1987).
Story: Jan Strand. Color/Art: Richard Corben
(signed as Richard Corben). Lettered by hand (Corben), except
in Chidlren of Fire version: printed (Corben).

Keywords: Unhero. Sorcerer. Rape. Kidnapping. Fee.
Synopsis: Rich landlord asks Razar to rape his virgin
daughter to spoil sorcerer's needs for his rite. Girl escapes
from Razar into arms of kidnapper (sorcerer) and gives willingly
her virginity to him. Deed is done and Razar wants to collect
his fee.
Comment: In the series of Razar the Unhero stories (now
story by Jan Strnad) Corben's artwork has lack of interest. Comic's
story goes through some kind of transformation into complete
different, but that is it's only merit.
Humour: There is a red erected finger on second page's
last frame. According to the original story, landlord ought to
say, " I would do it [loosing his daughter from her virginity!]
myself, had age not robbed me of my resources - -". I.e.
they put some interesting ideas into story this time, but in Children of Fire version there is no such thing.
Alternatives: (see also above) More to come in Children
of Fire version: girl's seethrough night dress is now more
blur. On last frame of sixth page girl is not naked but still
in night dress and she does not offer herself so visually to
Bido (saying, "- - my fruit is ripe!" is changed to
, "- - I'm ready."). There is minor text changes all
the way. On second page's farest left frame says (in original
story), "Screw her you goddamn fool!!", but in Children
of Fire, "Rape! Rape! She has to be raped! Must I draw
a diagram, you idiot!". On last frame of thrid page girl
says, "Demon!" In Children of Fire version there
is printed "Demon!" and under it a red color letters
from original hand lettered word "Demon!"; of course
these two different words do not fit together.
