Story Origin: H.P. Lovecraft poem, "Recognition" from "Fungi from Yuggoth".
Synopsis: A man is lost in woods. He meets a kid, but they get separated. A kid runs for forest monsters and ends up an altar.
Comment: Very strong story about losting and founding own identiety. Similar story with "Dagon", but totally different approach to the theme. One tree monster's got clear mammals which is a reference that protagonist is lost because (or with) women. One can see a strong female monster his mother as well. Based on a poem, "Recognition", by H.P. Lovecraft.
Extra: Mr. Corben made around year 2003 an animation, "Recognition", from the same poem. The synopsis of the animation sounds pretty close the same as comics story.
