Story: Bruce Jones. Art: Richard Corben
(no signiture). Lettering: printed (Corben).

Keywords: Militant. Robbery. Escape. By accident. Time
travelling. Dinosaur. Surviving. Rescue. Betrayal. Violence.
Synopsis: Female Colonel Nelson is running a secret (military)
time machine. Sid and Darlene rob a shop, while Rip and Maggie
are pulled against their will into it. Sid kidnaps Maggie and
escapes; Rip follows with Darlene. They all drive by accident
through time machine into prehistoric time (when dinosaurs rule
the Earth). These two separate groups try to survive in alien
environment. There is only one thing to do to rescue them: Colonel
Nelson sends a (violent) rescue soldier Rober after them. But
Mr. Rober is not only one who is nasty and violent.
Comment: Very good epic story by Bruce Jones, though the
concept is close to they collaboration in Eerie (a time
travelling trilogy). Corben's B&W artwork is very good too.
Finally he can explore his passion with dinosaurs and prehistoric
atmospheres. Nudity is mild (for fear of "Adults Only" label
- Mr. Corben says in Rip in Time #2 (1986), "The
sensitive subjects of sex, nudity and language were debated at
length between Bruce and I as this project began."),
but voluptuous girls get their points. Story has a beautifully
cinematic beginning without dialogue. Serial and Album versions
are as similar as possible, except in the episode's opening page's first
frame (Corben draw away all "Rip in
Time" -titles, but first).
Drawing Technique: The drawings are done in pen and ink
with gray pencil modeling. The tones were added with a two step
overlay. [Rip in Time #2 (1986), inner front cover]
