Benito Jacovitti (March 19, 1923 - December 3, 1997) was born in Termoli, Italy. In 1939 Jacovitti started working for Il Vittorioso. Starting from 1949, he went on in I Diari Vitt published by A.V.E.In 1956 he began working for the newspaper Il Giorno dei Ragazzi, where Cocco Bill and Tom Ficcanaso were born. Ten years later he join Il Corriere dei Piccoli for which he created Cip l'Arcipoliziotto, Zorry Kid, and Tarallino Tarallà. In 1973 he published Gionni Peppe on the magazine Linus, followed in 1981 by Joe Balordo.

Most likely printed in German as well because it was censored afterwards by Bundesprüfstelle für Jungendefährende Schrifften around 1989. Those days in Germany there was the office with five workers who read all printed matters and checked weather they were unsuitable for younger reads. For the office every comics should be suitable for youngsters as well or they will be banned.
